A survival knife can be very important item to have with you when camping, hiking, and hunting or other similar activity. Hopefully you never have to seriously depend on one, but it sure nice to have if you do.
Some survival knives have a full tang blade for added strength, and others have a water tight hollow handle with survival supplies inside, and possibly a compass. Some even come with a separate pouch for fire starter tools or knife sharpening tools.
