The Bowie knife was named after General James “Jim” Bowie during our countries earlier years. There are many variations of the styles of Bowie knives, but in general they were rather large fixed blade, thick and wide, and carried in a sheath.

Some styles of the Bowie knife are very useful for camping and hunting, and outdoors activities. Other styles like a replica D-guard Bowie knife with brass hand guard are great for any collection.

During the Civil War, the Confederates constructed large knives known as Bowie Knives, sometimes with a large handle guard that was called a D-Handled Knife.

This Confederate Bowie knife was a very useful weapon. These types of weapons are very popular with campers, hunters, and other outdoors people as well as collectors.
