Anytime you are in the outdoors for a trek, whether it be the mountains, woods, or jungle, it is always good to ‘be prepared’. A good tool and weapon to have with you is a knife similar to jungle survival knives.

A machete is designed to be larger than the average hunting knife and smaller than a sword. They can be a very intimidating weapon and a very effective working tool.
Some heavy duty survival machetes come with full tang carbon steel blades that are ¼ inch thick. They can be about 18 inches in length with a leather warped handle and a leather sheath to carry it.
Some Background On The Bowie Knife
A bowie knife is not a company blade, but a certain style of blade. Made famous by Colonel James “Jim” Bowie, and his brother, this type of blade has become very popular.
The typical bowie knife is a rather large fixed blade knife with a blade of around 10 inches, and would be thick, strong, and wide. The D guard bowie knife has a solid guard on the handle to give extra protection to the hand.

In most of the Rambo combat movies, he at one time would be using a special survival knife. These knives varied in style and design but they all were for one thing, survival.
